Just A Butterfly On My Hand

If you advance confidently in the direction of your own dreams and endeavor to live the life which you have imagined, you will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. It will chase you.”

…Henry David Thoreau

Yesterday was a world-class day.

Have you ever witnessed or experienced something that was so profoundly beautiful that it brought tears to your eyes?

This is the highest octave of any day’s energetics.

Beauty has many forms and definitions.  It applies to anything and everything.

I write almost every day and I do not have words to describe what happened to me yesterday.  It is one of those days when I wish I was an artist of some kind because words fail me when attempting to describe what happened.  Playing an instrument, dancing, or using the voice for singing would be the only way to fully engender the meaning.

Thus, I will honor the beauty of the heart of it as purely and as simply as I can: We are greatly loved, and the enormity of it is realized by us only in flickers.

The stars flickered for us yesterday.  And, strangely here is what happened…

As most of you know, I lost one of my sisters to breast cancer and the void she left can be all-consuming some days. But, on other days, well, things magical happen. “As above, so below” is an ancient adage that declares a belief in the physical connection between heaven and earth. And, yesterday I experienced a mystical moment.

But, first I must tell you that, for our family, butterflies are very significant. Whenever we see a butterfly we know that my sister is close by. This is because, shortly after her death, her daughter who was seeing a grief counselor, was asked: “If your mommy could come back, what would she come back as?” She responded almost immediately and with great conviction: “Oh, my mommy would be a butterfly.”

And, when at Christmas of the same year, she yanked on her clacker, (that yearly tradition in some Christian households) to get her gift that was inside…and a butterfly popped out, we knew without a doubt that my sister, who had a great sense of humor, was making a visit. So…ever since then….butterflies are significant.

Well, as it happened, yesterday a man came up to me with his hands cupped. He opened them and then gently placed on my finger, the coolest, most beautiful butterfly. A Swallowtail Butterfly to be exact. You rarely see any of them, though, as they spend much of their lives feeding high up in trees, and do so mostly at night.

Not yesterday. Yesterday, this stunning, graceful, elegant, exquisite living being, visited me and stayed on my hand for at least 15 minutes! In the midst of all the craziness and insanity that this world is doling out right now; in the middle of this huge transition that humanity is going through, I actually drew a crowd as people wanted to see up close the beauty of this spectacular butterfly.

And, I got quite emotional as I stood there. For, you see, I knew without a doubt that this was my sister paying us a visit. And, she had the ability to make people pause for a second, from their busy lives, to admire the beauty this world has to offer.

I realized something else too. In the parallel of the cycle of growth of a butterfly, we are in the time of the “growing season” when the caterpillar cocoons and makes its way through the darkness of the chrysalis to come out into the light of day.  In the natural cycle, this is the time of persevering through challenges to our hopes, wishes and dreams.

My sister showed me in her quiet, ethereal, unearthly, kind of way that just as she made the transformation from caterpillar to butterfly, we too, are being lifted above and beyond.  Out of harm’s way.

So, advance confidently in the direction of your dreams. If you do, you’ll meet with a success that can only be imagined! It will chase you. My sister chased us yesterday. It was a beautiful act of love.

Ending? This Is Only The Beginning.

The limit is not in the sky. The limit is in the mind.”

…Anonymous

This past weekend it was my privilege to attend a party. A Retirement Party. Honoring a teacher who spent all of her working career shaping and molding young minds.

And, she would do this not by filling their minds with conditioned thinking, but by challenging these young souls, to dare to dream.

She had a special talent in reaching these youthful spirits who are in the springtime of their lives. How did she get through to them in such a way that years after they left her classroom, they would return to visit her and share their accomplishments, their fears, and even for some, their failures.

Why were they so faithful to her? How did she do this?

I believe that it was because she had a talent…that she was given a gift in this lifetime…and she used it! Her passion to make a difference in the lives of these inexperienced, and, as yet, unworldy persons created a trust and a following that I have not seen EVER!!

She was creative in her teaching methods and taught with humor and a no-nonsense attitude. She tutored children from all walks of life. Rich kids. Poor kids. Genius kids. Average kids. Kids who struggled to learn.

She guided them with a tenderness for the courage of the human heart. A heart that would have to stand up again and again. A heart that would have to expand to hold all that mattered, even when doing so seemed, to their human minds, unbearable or simply impossible. She taught them simply by reminding them what they already knew…that they could do anything in life that they wanted, by having the courage to go deeper. By letting their desire grow larger than their fear. By sharing with them the value of participating fully in their own life.

Yes, Mrs. Nicholson is a very special kind of teacher. One that comes along only once in a while. She has helped to make the changes that are necessary to ensure that our children’s children can live on this planet. She has contributed by helping to create a world where the very idea of toxic waste, for example, will raise such a cry of anguish from the people as to make it unthinkable. That’s what she has given to our young people of today. An awakening. An awareness.

Kelly, my friend. I thank you. For teaching with heart. For guiding our youngsters from the heart. This world is a better place because of you.

Here’s to the new adventures you will now have. And, Happy Retirement. You deserve it!

How To Restore Your Sanity By Jumping On a Unicorn!

unicorns

“It’s not a unicorn, it’s a horse with a sword on its head that protects my hopes and dreams.”
…Unknown

You know, someone told me I was delusional and I nearly fell off my Unicorn! So you see, your hopes and dreams need to be protected at all costs. They come to you by way of the heart. And, after all everyone knows that your heart stores all the wisdom you’ll ever need.

People are now just beginning to awaken to the fact that we are in control of this paradigm shift that is happening on our planet. But, a lot of people don’t understand what a paradigm is…and when a paradigm is coming into existence, it’s like the biggest deal there is!

We no longer live in a 3-D reality…that is the boundaries and limitations that we all grew up with; that scarcity mentality, that “we’ll have to fight for what we want,” those walls have come down!

In this new fourth dimension paradigm, your creativity will be what shapes this new world we are now living in.  There won’t be any more cookie cutter people created, all wearing the latest fashions of the season, doing the same popular things in order to be accepted. No more disguises or masks!

No more cookie cutter retail stores that were designed to take our money in the most offensive, filthy, vulgar, ways possible.

No more education systems that kill the sense of inner passion to learn, or go after what we are interested in, and create mere puppets on the corporate stage who can’t think independently, and for themselves.

Yes, the collective consciousness of humanity is vibrating at a higher level now. This is great news! Let this new paradigm encourage you to find your gifts and use them in service to others.

You must protect your hopes and dreams at all costs. If you do, you will soon find out that this Kingdom is magical!

How To Get Conscious! 5 Ideas That Really Work

clothespins-9272_1280

“Consider the postage stamp: its usefulness consists in the ability to stick to one thing til it gets there.”
…Josh Billings

Now consider our brain.  Like a company, it has many departments that specialize in one thing in order to make the whole work more effectively.

The unfortunate reality is that because of our really busy lives, the everyday struggle for survival, the constant stress cycle we live in, we have become less intelligent.

Why? Well, that’s because we’re operating not from our conscious processes, we’re running the many departments in our brain from our hind brain reflexes ~ because it’s faster and survival oriented.

How do we change this? How do we slow down and evolve as a compliment to the intoxicating, compelling beings that we really are?

How to Get Conscious! 5 Ideas That Really Work.

1. The quickest, most effective way to slow down your brain is through deep breathing. As you learn once again to take deep breaths of oxygen into your lungs, you will experience immediately that your body starts to respond by slowing down. And, as you begin to pay attention to your breath, your mind will start to slow down as well. This is a good thing. For once you make a conscious connection with the breath, it will give you something more. Every. Single. Time.

2. Become aware of the Energetic System that is within your body. The long, slow breaths will help you with this. This system is also known as your Chakra System…7 tiny tornedo-like vortexes that spin the energy in your torso and head. This energy system takes in good, clean energy. It also assimilates the energy that is already there existing in your body. And, it releases any toxic energy that may be residing there without your knowledge.

3. Practice Meditation. This is an extremely effective way to raise your consciousness. This can be as simple as taking a walk in the forest, or riding your bike, or sitting in quiet contemplation. For you see, you are disconnecting with the busy-ness of your everyday life. You are giving a gift to yourself. It helps to open the gateway between your left and right brain. It helps you to create an awareness of life’s simple pleasures. If you don’t have the time to wash your clothes, hang them out to dry, and then breathe in that sweet freshness…you’re too busy!

4.  Get rid of the stories in your head. Make them like you instead. Start to see Fear for what it really is…a clever way to manipulate our minds into believing the stories we tell ourselves. We don’t think. Thinking happens to us. And, for most people, we are unfortunately at the mercy of the stories in our heads. Stop. Leave those negative thoughts behind. You really have no time for them in your life. They stop your flow.

5. Dreams, Imagination, Coincidence, Intuition. Powerful. It is not just a dream. It is not just your imagination. It is not just a coincidence. These things all happen in the limbic part of your brain. This center has no capacity for language. It’s why you can’t put into words why you want to do the things you do. It’s also called a “gut feeling.” You just know that you know. And, when you begin to get still enough to hear these whispers, you will never be led astray. Ever.

Are you serious about getting right with yourself? About becoming someone who has more energy, stronger intelligence, greater creative powers, a better sense of awareness?  Then, start with these 5 simple ideas to flush out those floundering, paralyzing thoughts and give your own consciousness the boost it deserves!

A Heartwarming Tale Of Good Business: How 5 Minutes Grew My Heart Three Sizes That Day

Ugh. Tires. I had to get ’em. From my point of view, there is nothing sexy about tires! But, I needed them. Desperately. Steel was beginning to show through my radials. A number of people were telling me this.

And, so it was with tires in mind, on that bleak, blustery, dreary day at the end of November that I walked into a Tire Centre only to have my life forever changed by the experience!

I haggled with the owner about what kind of tires I needed. I was adamant that I wanted this certain kind of tire. He was recommending another. I listened to his suggestions and we struck a deal. After all, he was the expert on tires. And, then I sat down to wait… and wait… and wait.

After an indeterminable length of time (it seemed like hours), I was told that my car was ready. It was at that point where the story got really interesting…

I went over to the counter to get the “damage statement”. It was then that I was told, by the owner, that there would be no charge. What??!! NO CHARGE! Were my ears deceiving me?!!

I asked, “Pardon?” somewhat incredulously. My guess was he was trying to keep it on the low. The place was crawling with people waiting for their cars to be finished. Frustrated that I needed to be told again, he stated impatiently “Will this help you?” I emphatically replied “Why, yes!”

It was then he said these words: “Well, then. Merry Christmas.”

He sent me on my way. Stunned, I turned and very cautiously walked out the door. I could have heard a pin drop. It was as if everything in my world had become suddenly hushed and reduced to slow motion. It was a very surreal experience for me. I can still remember it as if it happened yesterday.

I crept back to my car, scared witless that my bubble would burst and I would awaken to this being an insane dream. I put the keys in the ignition, backed the car out of that Tire Centre afraid to disturb or interrupt this beautiful moment, and I began to drive down the street. It was only when I had gone 200 yards, that my senses began to return, a rush of blood flooded into my head, and I started adding up what just happened. I mean, literally added everything up!

Something that I should have been charged over $1,200.00, cost me nothing! I burst into tears.

Who, in this day and age would do something as astounding as that??!!! Who was this guy? Some kind of Earth Angel?

My life had already become topsy-turvy. This random act of kindness just spun it out of control.

And then it dawned on me. The path I had recently chosen to take, the journey that I was now embarking on… that of inspiring others to do the things that inspire them, well, this was a very obvious affirmation to me that I was on the right path. I got it! I really, really got it! Those tires I received actually eased the bumpy road I was travelling on.

When you change the focus from getting to giving… putting other peoples’ interests first and truly adding value to their lives, well that leads to unexpected returns.

That kind man received more business through his generosity to me than thousands of marketing dollars could ever have hoped to achieve. It brings new meaning to the old proverb “Give and you shall receive.”

The Power of Dreams – Quick Tip #28

It’s Only Just a Dream – Truth or Myth?

Are you familiar with someone telling you this? “It’s only just a dream.” How often has this been said? You may have even said it to yourself when you’ve woken from a dream that perhaps frightened you in the night. Or, maybe you’ve said it wistfully, after awaking from a dream of pleasure and joy. I have heard this time and again as people try to brush dreams aside. Or, tell me that they’re insignificant. It’s an easy thing to do as you rush out of the house and on to the business of the day.

It’s a poor strategy in life to let that happen

Remember, the story about a young man, Roger Bannister, who dreamed of running the mile in under four minutes? He had a dream. Yet, doctors told him time and again that no human could ever run a mile in less than four minutes.

As the story goes… here’s what happened. This beautiful young man ran the mile. In under four minutes. And, as he came running across the finish line, he clutched his heart and fell to the ground in a heap. Why? Because doctors had told him that it was physically impossible for a human to run that distance in that time. They told him that if, in fact, he did, he would die!

Can you imagine that?!! But, as we all know, Roger Bannister did not die. He went on to achieve great fame. And, humanity took a quantum leap in consciousness that day. It forever changed our thinking about the limitations of our running abilities.

In point of fact, dreaming is waking up. Dreams open up possibilities that take us beyond our every-day self-limiting beliefs. Dreams show us humanity’s path.

How many times have you gone to bed at night with a problem on your mind, only to find out the next morning that you’ve solved that problem in your sleep?

Or, how about all those artists and science fiction writers who have many, many times anticipated new technologies long before they ever showed up here on our planet.

Most recently, the dreams of the Andaman islanders enabled them to get-out-of-the-way of the terrible tsunami of December 2004 because their dreams and their intimate connections with the animals and Mother Earth told them it was coming. The Indian government at first suspected that they had perished in the storm. Yet, when the government sent helicopters over the highlands, the islanders reappeared sending arrows aimed at the choppers. They neither wanted or needed help. By tradition these islanders use group dreaming as a means of survival and progress for their whole community.

Paying attention to your dreams is very important as is sharing the gift of dreaming with other people. Humanity can gather what is pre-occupying the minds of dreamers as well as what is not and together we can guide our society into one of peace and healing.
